Volcano of the Month - Mount Etna (Italy)

Small eruption - I took this in 2002 during a research trip.

Europe's highest and most active volcano, Mount Etna rises to nearly 11,000' on Sicily. It's one of my favorite volcanoes because of the variety of lava flows it produces.  The food and the wine in the area certainly add to the appeal of visiting there!  Here is some great info from the Smithsonian, and here's a link to a webcam (remember, they are 8 hours ahead of us here in Colorado).
